| Drew Blickensderfer takes over as crew chief for Carl Edwards' No. 60 Fords By Scott White | Tuesday, February 23, 2010 - CEDHOnline Breaking News Coming not even a week after a decision was made to replace Drew Blickensderfer on the No. 17 Sprint Cup Series car driven by Matt Kenseth, he will take over as the crew chief of Carl Edwards' No. 60 Roush Fenway Fords, Roush Fenway Racing announced today. Blickensderfer will replace Mike Kelley as the crew chief, and Kelley will become the new competition director for RFR's four-car Nationwide series operation. Kelley will replace Mike Beam, who will move over into the role of speedway specialist which was held by Todd Parrott, who now holds the title as Kenseth's crew chief. Edwards and Blickensderfer have worked with one another before. In a 19 race stint in 2008, the two worked with one another after a crew chief change was made midway through the season. The pair won seven events, in the 2008 season and finished second in the standings behind Clint Bowyer. This will be the third crew chief in the last year that Carl Edwards has worked with on the No. 60 car, Dan Stillman, Kelley, and now Blickensderfer. He has had success with all three crew chiefs on the car. “Drew is a wonderful team builder,” said team owner Jack Roush. “He will bring car-of-tomorrow experience to the Nationwide shop. Carl and Drew have a strong track record together.” "This is great for Copart and Fastenal. It provides them with a great chance to win a championship. This assignment will task Drew’s potential.” One of the major things that will help with the change is the experience that Blickensdefer has with the car of tomorrow on the Sprint Cup Series will turn over in the Nationwide Series this season.? |
